How to Get Pregnant: The Tricks

Pregnancy does not always happen with the ease with which one would like, so here are some tips. Deciding to get pregnant is an important step. Life changes with the arrival of a new element of the family. But pregnancy does not always happen with how easily you like it. Sometimes it takes a lot of time, and for those who are trying, it seems like forever. In fact, the vast majority of couples need at least 6 months to get pregnant, and only after two years has 90% achieved a pregnancy. Therefore, the ideal is to optimize all possible variables. Here are some tricks kindly given by Sofia Serrano, a gynecologist and author of the blog  Café, Cinnamon and Chocolate , to help you more easily reach a healthy pregnancy.

How to get pregnant?

Ideally, you should stop taking the pill for about 3 months before you start trying to conceive to understand how the menstrual cycle is and therefore the most fertile time of the month. On average, women ovulate on the 14th day – but this is valid for a 28 day cycle (do not forget that the 1st day of the cycle is the 1st day of menstruation). Therefore, if the cycle is 25 days, ovulation will probably occur earlier, and if the cycle is 35 or 40 days later. There are some signs associated with the ovulation period, namely the presence of a gelatinous mucus (the so-called “clear egg type”). Start a multivitamin supplement

It is important that the supplement contains folic acid (to prevent neural tube defects) and ideally iodine (also recommended by DGS). The supplement should be done at least 3 months before and kept during pregnancy. Vitamin C also begins to be recognized as important during conception and pregnancy.

Stop bad habits

Quit smoking, lose weight in case of obesity, regularly do some form of physical exercise – daily walks are a good option. The ideal is to opt for healthy eating and healthy lifestyles that are maintained during pregnancy and beyond – the baby and our health are grateful. Tobacco is related to infertility and a higher probability of topic pregnancy, as well as being related to complications during pregnancy and poor outcomes such as placental abrupt ion and fetal death.

F or pre-pregnancy tests

It is important to determine the blood group and confirm if the vaccines are up-to-date, and also to screen for cervical cancer (cervical cytology). When deciding to get pregnant, the ideal is to have sex every other day, a few days before ovulation time, and a few days later. It’s because? Yes-day-no, because if they are daily, the spermatozoa are more immature and will not have such good quality for fertilization. Ideally, one should try a few days before ovulation, because it is not known exactly how long it will be, and the ovum only remains viable for 24 hours – spermatozoa, on the other hand, survive for about 72 hours in the female reproductive tract, and those who stay awhile at the level of the cervix undergo a process called empowerment that makes them optimal for fertilization. So we try to increase the odds that the female and male gametes meet.

Try to reduce stress level

Stress and anxiety interfere with ovulation and the ability to conceive. Trying to have a quiet life is one of the steps so that everything runs smoothly.

Do not wait too long.

The peak fertility is around 20 and begins to decrease to 30. From there the chances of getting pregnant are decreasing and complications increase.

Infertility: Know the treatments

More and more couples are having fertility problems, but there are several treatments to get pregnant. Infertility is a disease of the reproductive system that is characterized by the fact that a couple can not get pregnant after trying for about 12 months. A  Bellies of Love  and some clinics share with us some techniques of Medically Assisted Procreation (PMA) allowed in Portugal.

Infertility

This problem has long appeared in the human species. However, it was at the end of the last century that the greatest advances were made in this area and some of the techniques of Medically Assisted Procreation that are applied today have arisen. Medically Assisted Procreation (PMA) refers to all fertility treatments that include manipulation of sperm or oocytes in the laboratory (ie in vitro ) and which have as their ultimate goal a pregnancy.

Fertilization Techniques

According to Portuguese laws, the permitted PMA techniques are:

1) Artificial insemination (with partner or donor semen)

This is a first-line treatment. It is indicated for cases of good prognosis of pregnancy and in women under 35 years. According to the IVI , Reproductive Medicine group, artificial insemination treatment is done in three phases:

First: Stimulation of the ovaries with hormones is done to induce ovulation;

Second: After the semen preparation, in which the sperm with the best mobility are selected and concentrated;

Third:  Finally, there is the insemination, which consists in the placement of a sperm sample, previously prepared in the laboratory, inside the woman’s uterus.

The scheduling of this treatment is decided and scheduled in consultation. Once the treatment is completed, after about two weeks, the woman can take the pregnancy test  to see if there is a pregnancy or not.

Cytoplasmic sperm injection (SCSI)

This is a procedure that involves the introduction of a single sperm within each woman’s leukocyte. Thus, embryos will be sown and consequently transferred to the woman’s uterus where, if all goes well, they will develop for 9 months. This is one of the best techniques for cases of male infertility , in the case of men with few spermatozoa once they are selected the best of the best.

Transfer of embryos, gametes or zygotes

The Intramuscular Transfer of Gametes consists of the collection of the woman’s eggs through an examination – laparoscopy -, and simultaneously in the capture of the partner’s sperm. Then the gametes (sex cells that merge at the time of fertilization or fertilization) are “introduced” into the woman’s Fallopian tubes, where fertilization takes place. In the Antibody Zygote Transfer, the types of gametes are contacted  in nitro under conditions suitable for their fusion. The resulting zygote or zygotes are transferred into the uterine Fallopian tubes. In the first, fertilization is processed outside the woman’s body, while in the second, the sperm meets the egg, forming the embryo, in the Fallopian tubes.

Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis

This diagnosis is a set of techniques that are able to evaluate the genetic state of the embryos before being transferred to the uterus, in order to select the embryos that do not carry disease, and therefore, in this way, will be healthy. Know what test types, how to do them, how to interpret your results and all the other information here! There are two types of pregnancy test that you can do from the pharmacy and the blood test. In addition to these there are still others who can give an indication (without any scientific proof) whether or not you are expecting baby.

Pregnancy test

There are two types of pregnancy test you can do: the pharmacy and the blood test. In addition to these there are still others who can give an indication (without any scientific proof) whether or not you are expecting baby, such as online pregnancy tests.

Pharmacy test

The pregnancy test that is purchased at the pharmacy (which costs between 7 and 15 euros) is reliable, provided it is done after and check the menstrual delay . When done before this delay can give a negative result that may not be correct, so-called “false negative.” Pharmacy tests measure the amount of beta-HCG hormones in the urine, which is only produced when the woman is pregnant. Thus, these tests are reliable and easy to do but may give wrong results when they are done at a very early and early stage of pregnancy, since in such cases the amount of hormones may be too small and not detected through urine .

Blood Pregnancy Test

The  qualitative one works like the test of pharmacy, that is, it only informs if it is or not pregnant. The quantitative shows the concentration of hCG in the blood. Of these two hypotheses, it is preferable to take the quantitative pregnancy test as it indicates the exact level of the hormone in your body and which may be helpful to the doctor accompanying you . This test can be prescribed by a doctor, but can also be performed in most laboratories without the medical request. In addition to these two pregnancy tests, there is also an online test, which may serve to clear the last doubts.

Pregnancy test online

In this type of online tests, some questions are asked about whether women experience some of the most known pregnancy symptoms , such as increased breast tenderness, abdominal cramps, nausea (during pregnancy), and heartburn (during pregnancy) . Then, based on the answers, the test gives you the answer whether or not you are pregnant. When deciding to get pregnant, the ideal is to have sex every other day, a few days before ovulation time, and a few days later. It’s because? Yes-day-no, because if they are daily, the spermatozoa are more immature and will not have such good quality for fertilization.
